SFTHU Quick Reviews: Capacopter's Self-Titled Debut

Capacopter Band

Capacopter is a stoner rock quartet from Mannheim, Germany who takes a straightforward approach to their music, drawing upon the classic stoner sound as well as the vintage heavy rock tones of the 70s. The band got their start in 2021 and stayed busy releasing several singles and playing live gigs over the next few years.

On January 9, 2026, Capacopter released their self-titled debut album, a combination of two previously released singles and six new songs. If you've never graced your ears with the band's energetic, soulful sound before, this album will leave a lasting first impression and will certainly create many new fans along the way.

Capacopter Self-Titled Album

Capacopter's debut begins on a strikingly spirited note as the first three songs (600 Years, Borderline Steal Circus, and my personal favorite Caravan) produce big, echoing stoner/desert reverberations that one can easily picture filling a large venue. These tracks boast energetic, turbulent bursts and mellifluous, soaring, infectious choruses that are reminiscent of heavy hitters like Slomosa.

As the fourth track Kings and Crowns rolls in, one notices a distinct shift in sound that carries through to the end of the album - a healthy infusion of heavy blues soul and colorful, classic 70s heavy rock. However, Capacopter doesn't miss a beat, keeping the momentum going strong and keeping up with those memorable, singable hooks. The primarily instrumental song Wandering Stones ends the album in a powerful way by being distinctly weightier and more serious, but there are jammy sections of that trademark Capacopter energy that really add depth and enhance the mood.

All in all, Capacopter proves on their debut album that they're not only capable of playing a variety of styles in a vibrant, unforgettable way, but they also show that they're poised to become mainstays of the underground stoner scene.

Be sure to give this album a spin for yourself and show this highly underrated band some much-deserved support!
